Amen is a pop song by the Italian musician Francesco Gabbani from 2015. It was composed and written by Gabbani and Fabio Ilacqua . Gabbani won the title at the 2016 Sanremo Festival in the Newcomer category.

Gabbani released the song on November 27, 2015 as a download and first release from his second studio album Eternamente ora . On the evening of the same day was the television Rai 1 competition #SG - Sanremo Giovani broadcast, candidates for the category under which a jury Nuove Proposte of the next Sanremo Festival chose. Gabbani won this competition.

On February 11, 2016, he presented his song for the first time as part of the Sanremo Festival. During his duel, a technical error occurred that led to the votes of the press representatives being counted incorrectly and initially the singer Miele was wrongly declared the winner. It was not until later that evening that the press vote was repeated, and finally the result was revised. The next day Gabbani won the final of the Nuove Proposte competition . He also received the Premio della Critica Mia Martini and the Premio Sergio Bardotti for the text by Amen .

The music video was filmed in the Calacata Borghini marble quarry near Gabbani's hometown of Carrara . The director is Daniele Barraco. It was published on December 1, 2015 on the VEVO video platform and has been viewed 13.1 million times to date (as of March 18, 2017).

Commercial win

After its release in November 2015, there was no measurable commercial success. Only after Gabbani's victory at the Sanremo Festival did the recording enter the Italian single charts on February 18, 2016 at number 14. Six weeks later it was awarded a gold record , after another 20 weeks it reached platinum status.
