The Ameprod Television Game 10 (official abbreviation: TVG-10 ) is a stationary game console that was published in 1980 by PPZ Ameprod (PPZ = Polish : Przedsiębiorstwo Polonijno-Zagraniczne, German : Polish-foreign company) exclusively in the People's Republic of Poland . It was produced by Elwro and PPZ Ameprod. The system is a so-called Pong console and is therefore one of the first generation of game consoles.
The console had a total of six games, of which only four could be played without the additionally available light gun called Videotraf .
history
After the arrival of the AY-3-8500 ("Pong on a chip") in the non-socialist economic area in 1976, there were also considerations in Poland to manufacture such a consumer good . The Unimor company made its first attempts in the 1970s. Two different prototypes were produced, the Tele-Set GTV-881 from Unimor and the GEM-1 from Elzab . However, only one of these was ready for the market and was produced in very small numbers (less than 1,000). Some electronics magazines also published blueprints so readers could build their own pong console. These were all based on logic modules . In Poland, the AY-3-8500 from General Instrument was finally obtained legally from the Federal Republic of Germany in order to build the TVG-10. Elwro started production of the TVG-10 in 1979, the console was available in the radio and television departments from 1980. Thanks to the AY-3-8500 chip, six permanently installed games (pong, soccer, squash, practice and 2 shooting games) are preinstalled in the console. However, the device was very expensive for private customers and only around 10,000 units were sold in the first 3 years. PPZ Ameprod took over production as early as 1981. With this legal form it was possible to obtain larger quantities of the chips at better conditions, which made it possible to increase production numbers. A total of around 100,000 units of the TVG-10 were manufactured and sold.
Production of the system ended in 1984.
