The final round of the 3rd Men's American Football World Cup 2007 (officially 2007 IFAF World Cup or 2007 IFAF World Championship ) was held from July 7 to July 15, 2007 in Japan . In the final game, which was played at the Kawasaki Stadium , the USA won against hosts Japan after extra time with 23:20 and became world champions for the first time when they participated for the first time.
Qualifications and participants
Six nations took part in the finals of the World Cup.
Japan as hosts, Sweden as European champions and the United States of America as the only pan-American candidate were automatically qualified .
Two other representatives came from Europe : Germany qualified for participation in Japan with a 68: 7 against Denmark. France qualified with a 25: 6 against Finland, which was able to prevail before with a 42: 0 against Russia.
The last participant was determined between Korea and Australia. Korea won 22:13.
Competition mode
In the group phase, two groups of three teams were formed. Within these groups everyone played against everyone. After the group stage, the teams that were ranked equally played for first (group winners), third (second) and fifth (third) place.
