The final round of the 4th Men's American Football World Cup 2011 (officially 2011 IFAF World Cup or 2011 IFAF World Championship ) was held from July 8 to July 16, 2011 in Austria . In the final game, which was played in front of 20,000 spectators in the Ernst Happel Stadium , the USA won against Canada with 50: 7 and thus defended the world championship. Most valuable player of the tournament ( MVP ) was the US running back Nate Kmic .
The decision of the World Association for American Football IFAF regarding the award fell on July 5, 2009 at the IFAF Congress in Canton, Ohio . For the organization and promotion of this World Cup was AFBÖ responsible.
Venues
The venues for the group games were Innsbruck with Tivoli-Neu and Graz with the UPC-Arena . The final and placement games took place in the Ernst Happel Stadium in Vienna . A total of 70,000 viewers came to the 16 World Cup games, which corresponds to an average number of 4,375 visitors.
Selection process
A total of eight starting places are available for participation in the 4th American Football World Cup . These starting places are allocated within the four continental associations through different qualification procedures.
qualification
The European umbrella organization for American football EFAF was guaranteed three World Cup participants, including the host country . All three European participants were determined by the American Football European Championship 2010 in Germany . The Pan-American umbrella organization PAFAF was also guaranteed three World Cup starting places, including the defending champions of the American Football World Cup in 2007, the USA , which would have been permanently qualified as a result. However, there was no qualification process and the three top-ranked nations in the official IFAF world rankings were given priority. In contrast, both the oceanic umbrella organization OFAF and the Asian AFAF were each allocated a World Cup starting place. These are determined by a play-off game between the two strongest nations of each continental association.
Attendees
draw
The IFAF allocated the two groups . The first in the group play for the gold and the second in the group for the bronze medal. The third and fourth placed play for fifth and seventh place respectively.
