The national team will regularly since then with few exceptions at the European Championships of EFAF (since 2014 IFAF Europe ) and the World Championships of the IFAF part.
In autumn 1989, as well as in 2000 and 2001, the AFVD hosted a European championship. While the German selection lost the semifinals in 1989 and the final against Finland in 2000 , they won the final against this very opponent in Hanau in 2001 (19: 7) and thus became European champions for the first time.
Further successes include winning the World Games in 2005 (20: 6 against Sweden ) in Duisburg and the European championship titles at the 2010 European Championships in Frankfurt am Main and 2014 in Vienna .
