Castel Giorgio is an Italian comune with 2099 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Terni in the Umbria region .
geography
The community extends over around 42 km² . It is located about 60 km southwest of Perugia and about 60 km northwest of Terni on the Romealla river and on the border with Lazio near Lake Bolsena . It belongs to the Comunità montana Orvietano Narnese Amerino Tuderte and is crossed by the Via Cassia .
The districts include Casa Perazza and Contrada Poderetto.
The neighboring municipalities are Acquapendente ( VT ), Bolsena (VT), Castel Viscardo , Orvieto and San Lorenzo Nuovo (VT).
history
The oldest traces of settlement in the area come from the time of the Villanova culture , after which the Etruscans were there, like those in the 3rd or 2nd century BC. BC created.
