The 10th World Games were held from 20 to 30 July 2017 Polish Wroclaw instead. For the first time since 2005 , the World Games were held in Europe again.

canditature

Four candidates initially expressed their interest in hosting the tenth World Games. After the Italian city ​​of Genoa withdrew its application, there were still three applicants to choose from in August 2011.

Most plants were three different areas within Wroclaw assigned (cluster) , the Central Cluster (Breslauer downtown), the East Cluster (Breslauer East) and the West Cluster (Breslauer west). There were also some plants outside of Wroclaw. There were a total of 26 different competition venues. The opening ceremony was held in the Miejski Stadium, the closing ceremony was held in the National Forum for Music .

In Germany, Sport1 broadcast the 2017 World Games on television, including over 90 hours live. Other broadcasts took place in the live stream or on the pay TV channel Sport1 +. For the broadcasts on free TV, the moderators Sascha Bandermann and Neele Schenker conducted the show in the studio in Ismaning . The commentators included a. Franz Büchner (including trampoline and tumbling), Hajo Wolff (including lifeguarding and fistball), Uwe Semrau (beach handball) and Basti Schwele (including inline hockey) in action. An average of 80,000 viewers saw the live broadcasts. The highest free TV coverage of the World Games was achieved by the fistball final on July 25 between Germany and Switzerland with almost 300,000 viewers at the top.
