Rotterdam-Zuid comprises the part of Rotterdam that lies on the southern side of the Nieuwe Maas . The following districts belong to Rotterdam-Zuid:
- Charlois: Carisse, Heijplaat, Oud-Charlois, Pendrecht, Tarwewijk, Wielewaal, Zuidwijk
- Feijenoord : Afrikaanderwijk, Bloemhof, Feijenoord, Hillesluis, Katendrecht, Noordereiland, Vreewijk, Kop van Zuid
- Hoogvliet: Boomgaardshoek, Meeuwenplaat, Middengebied, Nieuw Engeland, Oudeland, Tussenwater, Westpunt, Zalmplaat
- IJsselmonde : Beverwaard, De Veranda, Groenenhagen-Tuinenhoven, Hordijkerveld, Kreekhuizen, Lombardijen, Oud-IJsselmonde, Reyeroord, Sportdorp, Zomerland
- Pernis
Originally, the districts were only connected by bridges via Noordereiland. Otherwise you had to rely on ferries . The Maastunnel was opened in 1942 and the Van Brienenoordbrug in 1965 . In 1981 the old Willemsbrug was renovated and in 1996 the Erasmusbrug was completed.
