Amine Amiri (born March 30, 1994 ; Arabic أمين أميري, DMG Amīn Amīrī ) is a Moroccan snooker and pool player from Casablanca . In 2019 he got the starting place of the African Association for the snooker professional tour for two seasons.

Career

In his youth Amine Amiri was internationally successful especially in the pool variant Blackball (8-Ball) and represented Morocco in the team. His greatest individual success was the runner-up in the U-21 Junior World Cup in 2014.

When the 2019 African Games took place in Morocco , snooker was also included in the competitions for the first time. One of the two representatives of the host country at the event in Casablanca was Amine Amiri. In the semi-finals of the men's singles , he prevailed against his compatriot Yassine Ballamine and won the gold medal with a 4: 3 victory over the Egyptian Abdelrahman Abdelhamid. In mixed he also won silver with Youssra Matine.

Since 2012, the organizers of the Snooker Main Tour have reserved a starting place for an African player, usually the winner or the runner-up of the ABSC Snooker Africa Championship was selected. In 2019, however, the organization of the tournament failed and it had to be canceled. Finally, the African association ABSC selected the winner of the African Games for the Tour Card. Due to the late decision, Amiri missed the start of the season and did not join the Main Tour until October 14th at the English Open . His first match in the 2019/20 season against the world rankings -10. Barry Hawkins he lost 4-0.
