Albrecht Randelzhofer

Albrecht Randelzhofer (born November 4, 1938 in Munich ) is a German legal scholar and former professor at the Free University of Berlin .

Live and act

Randelzhofer studied law at the University of Munich , where, after completing his 1966 thesis on "Aspects of international law in the Holy Roman Empire after 1648", he was awarded a doctorate. iur. received his doctorate. In 1973 he completed his habilitation in Munich under the supervision of Friedrich Berber . He then worked as a private lecturer at the Free University of Berlin . From 1976 until his retirement in 2002 he held the full professorship for international law, comparative law and general legal theory at the Free University of Berlin. From 1988 until its dissolution in 1990 he was a member of the Academy of Sciences in Berlin (West) . From 1997 Randelzhofer was also a judicial member of the Constitutional Court of the State of Berlin . He was also a member of the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague from 1985 .

Randelzhofer's main research interests are constitutional and international law. In particular, he researched the fundamental rights in the German and European legal system. He also commented in the Basic Law commentary on Maunz-Dürig and in a commentary on the EUV .
