Amir Masoud Boroumand (born November 12, 1928 in Tehran ; † March 8, 2011 there ) was an Iranian football player and lawyer . He was the captain of the Iranian national team in the 1950s and the scorer of the first ever goal for Iran. In the 1960s he also played for Lebanon for three years .

Life

He was the third child of Mahmanzar Ghovanlou (mother) and Nasser Boroumand (father). Boroumand studied law in Beirut and later received his PhD from Washington State University in the United States . He spoke Persian , English , French and Arabic .

Amir Masoud Boroumand's football career began at Shahbaz FC , a football club from the capital Tehran, which was the third team for Shahin FC . There he played two seasons before he went on the hunt for goals for Shahin FC . By 1960 he won the Tehran championship twice with his club, was runner-up in Tehran three times, and celebrated three successes in the Hazfi Cup (Iranian Cup) .

Boroumand was appointed to the squad of the Iranian national team for the first time on October 26, 1949. He scored his country's very first goal in the international match against Turkey, which Iran lost 3-1. In 1951 he took part with Iran in the first Asian Games in New Delhi and won the silver medal, his greatest success with the selection of Iran. Between 1960 and 1964 he played for Lebanon. His best game in the Lebanese dress was the 2: 3 against Yugoslavia when he scored both goals.

He played a total of 13 games for Iran, in which he scored 10 goals.
