Joan Lino Martínez
Joan Lino Martínez (born January 17, 1978 in Havana ) is a Spanish long jumper of Cuban origin.
The 1997 Pan-American junior champion had been trying to acquire Spanish citizenship since the early 2000s, but was not able to start for his new country until 2004. At the 2004 Olympic Games , he won the bronze medal behind the two Americans Dwight Phillips and John Moffitt with his personal best of 8.32 m .
In the following year he managed to surpass his outdoor mark at the European Athletics Indoor Championships with 8.37 m and win the title. At the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki in 2005 , he was fourth with only one centimeter behind the bronze rank; however, this was his last international success to date.
