Rolf Bernhard

Rolf Bernhard (born December 13, 1949 in Frauenfeld ) is a former Swiss athlete specializing in the long jump discipline .

Bernhard set the Swiss record for the first time in 1971 with a height of 7.66 meters. He surpassed this several times in the following years: in 1975 he jumped 8 meters for the first time, his best performance of 8.14 meters he reached on August 1, 1981 in Ebensee . This Swiss record lasted 22 years until it was surpassed by Julien Fivaz in 2003 .

Bernhard became European champion in the hall in 1981, and in 1974 he finished fifth at the European Athletics Championships . He was a multiple Swiss champion and was voted Swiss Sportsman of the Year 1975.
