Gyula Pálóczi

Gyula Pálóczi (born September 13, 1962 - January 28, 2009 ) was a Hungarian long and triple jumper .

He started his career as a long jumper and won silver in this discipline at the European Athletics Indoor Championships in Budapest in 1983 . In the same year he retired from the qualification at the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki .

In 1985 he won silver at the World Indoor Athletics Games in Paris and won the European Indoor Championships in Piraeus as close as possible . Just like his compatriot László Szalma , he had achieved 8.15 m, so that the second best jump tipped the balance in favor of Pálóczi. At the European Indoor Championships in Budapest in 1988 , he finished seventh.

After moving to the triple jump, he qualified for the 1993 World Championships in Stuttgart, but failed in the preliminary round.

He was three times Hungarian champion in long jump (1984, 1986, 1990) and five times in triple jump (1988–1990, 1993, 1994). In the hall he won the national long jump title in 1985 and the triple jump in 1989 and 1990.
