Amirtha Kidambi

Amirtha Kidambi (* around 1985 in Buffalo ) is an American jazz musician ( vocals , harmonium , composition ).

Kindavi grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area ; she earned a bachelor's degree in classical singing from Loyola Marymount University , followed by a master's degree in singing from CUNY Brooklyn College, where she now teaches. In addition, she has been working in the New York jazz and improv scene in various band projects since the 2000s. a. with Brandon Lopez , Max Jaffe, Robert Ashley ( Crash , 2016) and Darius Jones ( The Oversoul Manual , AUM Fidelity , 2014), also in the formations The Sound of Animals Fighting and Chora (s) san Time-Court Mirage (among others with Amir El-Saffar ). She leads the formation Elder Ones and also played in the dark folk band Seaven Teares , in the Ashcan Orchestra and in the vocal quartet Elizabeth-Caroline Unit . In her music she includes carnatic singing, free improvisation, experimental art rock and new music . She lives in Brooklyn.
