Brandon Lopez

Brandon Lopez (* 1988 in Passaic ) is an American jazz and improvisation musician ( double bass , composition ).

Live and act

Lopez, whose musical family comes from Puerto Rico , grew up as a young child in a building in Madonna Cemetery in Fort Lee , New Jersey, where his father was the cemetery manager and he himself worked as a teenager. In addition to the bass, he learned the piano and guitar. Then he studied contemporary improvisation at the New England Conservatory and has been working in the New York improvisation scene since the 2010s. a. with Amirtha Kidambi / Matt Nelson , Peter Evans , Jaimie Branch , the Weasel Walter Large Ensemble ( Igneity: After the Fall of Civilization 2016), Tyshawn Sorey , Chris Pitsiokos , Joe Morris , Michael Foster , and Eli Wallace . He also appears as a soloist and leads the Trio Xivaros (with Alejandro Florez and Carlo Costa). Tom Lord recorded nine recordings between 2016 and 2018.
