Michael Foster (musician)

Michael Foster (* 1988 in New York City ) is an American jazz and improvisation musician ( baritone , soprano and tenor saxophone ), live electronics (also clarinet , composition ).

Live and act

Foster grew up in Los Angeles and New York, where he graduated from school in 2007; he then studied at Bard College with Marina Rosenfeld , Richard Teitelbaum and Thurman Barker . In 2012 he returned to New York City; there he continued his studies with Charles Gayle , Ellery Eskelin and Travis LaPlante . In the New York jazz and improvisation scenes he has since worked with Weasel Walter , Steve Swell , Pascal Niggenkemper , Chris Corsano , Kid Millions , Nate Wooley , Sean Ali , Han Bennink , Andrew Barker , Ted Byrnes , Ben Bennett ( Naming the Dust , 2009), Brandon Lopez ( Throes are the Only Trouble , 2017) and Leila Bordreuil ( The Caustic Ballads , 2016). Foster lives and works in Brooklyn.
