Liège rampage

At least six people were killed and 124 injured in the Liège rampage on December 13, 2011 by a 33-year-old Belgian. Another person is said to have been killed by the perpetrator shortly before the attack.

The 33-year-old Nordine Amrani (originally only al-Din Amrani) used in the attack in Liege an assault rifle of the type FN FAL and several grenades . He threw stun grenades at the waiting passers-by opposite a bus stop on the central Place Saint-Lambert . Several people were injured, and he shot around at the same time. The perpetrator then committed suicide by shooting in the head. The victims are two teenagers aged 15 and 16 and a toddler aged 17 months. On December 15, 2011, a 75-year-old woman died from her serious injuries. Previously, he is said to have killed the 45-year-old cleaning lady of a neighbor with a shot in the head in Rue Bonne Nouvelle in Liège.

Perpetrator

The perpetrator Nordine Amrani (born November 15, 1978 in Ixelles / Elsene near Brussels ) was born the son of Moroccan immigrants. According to his lawyer, Amrani admitted no faith.

He was orphaned very early and grew up in a children's home near Brussels. He had a criminal record for rape and coercion . In September 2008 he was sentenced to four years and ten months in prison for illegally possessing weapons and cultivating cannabis . During the search of the year 2008, several weapons, including a were reactive anti-tank rifle of the type M72 , an AK-47 and a K31 , and 9500 parts of weapons and large amounts of ammunition found. He was released on parole in October 2010. On the day of the crime, he was supposed to appear at the Liège Public Prosecutor's Office on charges of rape.
