Amphoe Sam Roi Yot ( Thai : อำเภอ สาม ร้อย ยอด ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district) in the northern part of Prachuap Khiri Khan Province . The province of Prachuap Khiri Khan is the southernmost province of the central region of Thailand .

Neighboring Amphoe and Areas: Amphoe Pran Buri is north and Kui Buri is south of the district. To the west is the Tanintharyi Division of Myanmar and to the east is the Gulf of Thailand .

On the coast lies the Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park , whose name, like that of the district, comes from the park's “300 mountain peaks” (literal translation from Khao Sam Roi Yot ).

history

Sam Roi Yot was initially set up on April 1, 1995 as a "branch circle" ( King Amphoe ) by separating the Tambon Rai Kao, Sila Loi and Sam Roi Yot from the Pranburi district.

On September 7, 1995, Tambon Sala Lai was added by separating 6 Muban from Rai Kao. On January 1, 1996, the Tambon Rai Mai of the Kui Buri district was also assigned to the King Amphoe.

The Thai government decided on May 15, 2007 to raise all 81 King Amphoe to "normal" Amphoe status in order to simplify administration. With the publication in the Royal Gazette "Issue 124 chapter 46" on August 24, 2007 this decision officially entered into force.

Sam Roi Yot County is divided into five tambon ("subdistricts" or "parishes"), which are further subdivided into 41 muban ("villages").

Local administration

There are two municipalities with "small town" status ( Thesaban Tambon ) in the district:

  • Rai Mai (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ไร่ ใหม่ ) consisting of parts of the Tambon Rai Mai and parts of the Tambon Sam Krathai of the neighboring Amphoe Kui Buri .
  • Rai Kao (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ไร่ เก่า ) consisting of the parts of the Tambon Rai Kao, Salalai.

There are also five " tambon administration organizations " ( องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - Tambon Administrative Organizations, TAO)

  • Sam Roi Yot (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล สาม ร้อย ยอด ) consisting of the complete tambon Sam Roi Yot.
  • Sila Loi (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล ศิลา ลอย ) consisting of the complete Tambon Sila Loi.
  • Rai Kao (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล ไร่ เก่า ) consisting of parts of the Tambon Rai Kao.
  • Salalai (Thai: องค์การ บริหารส่วน ตำบล ศาลา ลัย ) consisting of parts of the Tambon Salalai.
  • Rai Mai (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล ไร่ ใหม่ ) consisting of parts of the Tambon Rai Mai.
