The Amsler Passage is a strait in the Palmer Archipelago off the west coast of the Antarctic Peninsula that was exposed in 2005 by ice retreat . It separates the Amsler Island from the Anvers Island and is located around 1.5 km north-northwest of the Palmer station .
Locally scientists working they initially named as The Gap (English for the gap ). It is now named after the couple Charles and Margaret Amsler, based on the name of the Amsler Island, who worked as marine biologists for the United States Antarctic Program since 1979 for almost three decades in the area of Anvers Island.
