The Amsterdam Tulip Museum (proper name: AMSTERDAM TULIP MUSEUM , German: Tulip Museum Amsterdam ) shows the history of tulips from their origins in Central Asia to the tulip mania and the present in the Netherlands. The museum opened in 2004.

history

In the second half of the 16th century, tulips were introduced to the Netherlands , first as items for enthusiasts and later for commercial trade.

The interior design in the new building was created by the architects Nezu Aymo. The museum has an area of 2,200 m². The architectural office worked together with local artists, filmmakers and craftsmen to make the various exhibitions attractive to international visitors. The museum has seven galleries , a theater and a museum shop. The history of the tulip is shown with artifacts , new films and art objects.

In 2010 the Amsterdam Tulip Days were organized by the Tulip Museum, the International Bloembollen Center, the Van Loon Museum and the municipality. Numerous varieties of tulips were displayed in eighteen different squares in the city.
