Merenberg Office

The Merenberg office was a Nassau-Weilburg office with its seat in Merenberg . It was subordinate to the Oberamt Weilburg . The office went on in the Weilburg office .

The Merenberg rule formed the heartland of the Merenberg family and fell after the Nassau-Weilburg region died out. It included the places Barig , Allendorf , Hasselbach (1/4 share), Hüblingen , Merenberg, Neunkirchen , Reichenborn , Rückershausen and Selbenhausen .

In 1773 there was an exchange of territory (Löhnberg exchange contract) between Nassau-Orange and Nassau-Weilburg. Hüblingen, Neunkirchen and Rückershausen fell to Orange. In return, Nassau-Weilburg received the Orange shares in the Löhnberg office .

At the end of HRR 1803, the office therefore included the places Allendorf, Hasselbach (part), Merenberg, Reichenborn and Selbenhausen.
