Official Audit Office (Baden)

The official audit was introduced in Baden by law of November 26, 1809. The official auditors subordinate to the respective district office had the following tasks: drawing up contracts and wills as well as inventories, divisions, transfers of assets and gants . Likewise, keeping the land and pawn books. They had to check the communal, guild , guardianship , foundation , and alms bills and they were responsible for the fire insurance administration . They also had to make statements about the population and livestock.

The official carrying out the activity was known as an auditor or official auditor , the name derived from the audit. A large part of his work arose in the context of voluntary jurisdiction , which is why he mostly employed several clerks. For their activity they received sports .

By ordinance of November 25, 1841, the official auditors were renamed into notaries and the business and employment relationships were reorganized.
