Amulet was a Norwegian hardcore punk / post-hardcore - band from Oslo , Norway .

history

Amulet was founded in 1993 by three friends Lars Rasmussen , Arne Haabeth and Torgny Amdam as a classic hardcore punk band. In 1994 they released their debut Amulet . Three years later, the group's second album, Diamond, followed . Truls Berg as drummer and Torgny as singer could already be heard on this record .

The further history of the band is marked by many line-up changes, so that only Torgny and Lars remain from the original line-up . Especially the bass had to be re-cast four times. In the past, Amulet toured with Turbonegro, among others . In October 2006 the band finally announced their breakup for spring 2007.

style

Especially in the early days, Amulet played a style that was heavily based on classic hardcore punk. Fast, driving parts and more melodic guitar riffs shaped the image of the group on the one hand. On the other hand, influences of the early old school New York hardcore played through.

Later the band built in other elements so that a stronger alternative rock influence can be heard especially from the songs written after 2000 .

In Green Light sound of the band on the album All That Is Solid Melts into Air characterized as follows:

" Formative is the [...] mixture of driving, hard old school, punk rock melodies and turbo-style glam rock "
