Amuq

Amuq

Amuq is a swamp plain in the southernmost part of Turkey and lies east of ancient Antioch or today's Antakya . It gained archaeological significance through various important finds from the Neolithic to the Bronze Age on various tells . From 1995 to 2005 the Oriental Institute of the University of Chicago carried out an archaeological survey there .

According to Islamic eschatology , here Saheeh Muslim , Book 41, Hadith 6924, at the end of time, Muslim armies will meet their enemies in Amuq or Dabiq .
