Ana Karina Rossi

Ana Karina Rossi (* in Montevideo ) is a singer of tango and tango jazz from Uruguay.

Rossi studied piano and musicology at the Escuela Universitaria de Música in Montevideo.

In 2001 she sang in her band Summertime , including songs by Janis Joplin , Eric Clapton , Van Morrison , Sting , The Doors and The Rolling Stones . In 2002 she switched to tango in the formation Trio Sur of the bandoneon player Miguel Angel Trillo .

In 2004 she founded the Planeta Tango group . She performed her show Vidas Vividas (Lived Lives) at the 2006 Neo Tango Festival with the electro tango bands Tanghetto and San Telmo Lounge from Argentina. Vidas Vividas (Planet Tango 2004) was also the title of her debut album and also contains her own compositions.

In 2005 she performed at the Marcello Theater in Rome at the invitation of the Uruguayan embassy. In 2006 she started working with the tango composer Alberto Magnone . She played with his tango-jazz trio Uy Trio (with Jorge Trasante , percussion, Federigo Righi, bass). In 2006 she began working with the tango poet Horacio Ferrer in his show Nací en el Río de la Plata (accompanied by Mangone). In 2007 she performed in Beijing and in 2008 in Taba on the Red Sea. In 2008/09 she sang in the orchestra of the bandoneon player Alfredo Marcucci . In 2010 she performed with Ferrer in Genoa and in 2008 in the Parco de la Musica in Rome. In 2008 she moved to Rome, where she also appears on Italian television.

In 2009 her second album Son del Plata was released , in 2010 her third album Tango y Gotan with Mangone and Ferrer (with his lyrics, also to the music of Astor Piazzolla ), with which she also presented the album, 2011 Geografias and 2012 Aller-Retour in Buenos Aires Aires.

2006 received the young talent award of national interest in Uruguay. In 2011 she received first prize in Rome as Donna Immigrata nella società romana (Roman immigrant).
