Alberto Magnone

Alberto Magnone Ibarburu (born December 20, 1946 in Montevideo ) is a Uruguayan pianist , conductor and composer .

He studied piano and guitar in Montevideo. He also took courses in harmony and counterpoint with Rodolfo Alchourrón in Buenos Aires . He began his career in 1968 with the McGill Clan group. As the head of this group, he was responsible for the musical direction of the program for young people on the Uruguayan TV station Canal 4 Monte Carlo Televisión in 1971 . In 1976 he went to Spain. There he gave workshops in Barcelona and taught at music schools and in international jazz seminars before returning to Uruguay in 1983. He worked with various artists and recorded records. These include Eduardo Mateo , Fernando Cabrera , Osvaldo Fattoruso , Marianna Ingold , Ana Karina Rossi and Jaime Roos . In 2000 he was awarded the AGADU Composition Prize for the tango Los hijos de Gardel together with Laura Canoura . His songs were adapted , for example, by Canario Luna , the group Repique or Laura Canoura.
