Osvaldo Fattoruso (born May 12, 1948 in Montevideo , † July 29, 2012 ) was a Uruguayan composer , drummer and percussionist .

Osvaldo Fattoruso was the brother of Hugo Fattoruso . At the age of twelve he was the drummer of the Hot Club in Montevideo. With his brother Hugo, Roberto Capobianco and Carlos Vila he formed the Los Shakers from 1964 . With this group he had great commercial success. Los Shakers' records have appeared in Latin America, the United States and Australia. In numerous countries, these reached the top positions in the sales charts. From 1969 Fattoruso lived in the USA. There he founded the band Opa with his brother Hugo and Ringo Thielmann . In 1981 he briefly returned to Uruguay and settled in Buenos Aires the following year . He also appeared in numerous other formations, worked with various solo artists as a drummer and took part in international music festivals. He later belonged to the groups Barcarola and Otroshakers . With the latter group he released "A los Shakers" in 1981. He has also carried out projects with Rubén Rada , Litto Nebbia , Luis Alberto Spinetta , Alejandro Lerner , León Gieco , Fito Páez and Eduardo Mateo, for example . In the 1990s several joint productions appeared with Mariana Ingold , with whom he had already recorded the record "Cambio de clima" in 1988 after returning to Uruguay again. His works have also been adapted by other artists such as Charly García , Jaime Roos , Flora Purim and Pedro Aznar . He later developed cancer and died after fighting the disease for many years.
