Anaia (mythology)
Anaia ( ancient Greek Ἀναία ) is an Amazon of Greek mythology .
It is only mentioned in a late antique lexicon entry and in a Byzantine commentary on Homer's Iliad . Accordingly, Anaia is the eponymous heroine of the Asian Minor city of Anaia in ancient Caria , about eight kilometers from today's Turkish coastal city of Kuşadası . Since it was opposite the island of Samos , those exiled from Samos fled here during the Peloponnesian War . The tomb of Anaia is said to have been in the city.
