Anaklia ( Georgian ანაკლია ) is a climatic health resort on the eastern shore of the Black Sea in the Zugdidi municipality , in the Mingrelia and Upper Svaneti region , in western Georgia . It lies at the mouth of the Enguri River on the border with Abkhazia .
history
The first settlements on the city's territory date back to the Middle Bronze Age . After the collapse of the Kingdom of Georgia in the 16th century, it was a fortified city, port and fishing center of the Principality of Mingrelia . In 1723 the city was taken by troops of the Ottoman Empire . The fortress dates from this time.
