Anaplasmosis
As anaplasmosis a is bacterial infection designated by the representatives of the genus Anaplasma is caused. Anaplasmas attack blood cells , multiply intracellularly and are transmitted by ticks . The treatment is mostly done with doxycycline .
The most important representatives of this genus are:
- Anaplasma phagocytophilum : causative agent of anaplasmosis in humans (formerly: human granulocytic Ehrlichiosis , HGE). Ruminants, dogs (→ canine anaplasmosis ), cats and horsesare also susceptible.
- Anaplasma marginal : causative agent of anaplasmosis in ruminants (biliary disease)
- Anaplasma platys : causative agent of canine cyclic thrombocytopenia
- Anaplasma centrale : causative agent of mild diseases in cattle
- Anaplasma ovis : pathogen causing mild diseases in sheep and goats
