Anargyri
As anargyri or anargyroi , also known as the holy money despiser ( ancient Greek Άγιοι Ανάργυροι Agioi Anárgyroi , German 'holy saints' ), a group of saints - including a number of legendary healers and miracle workers - who received no rewards or gifts for their lifetime should have accepted good deeds.
The epithet can refer to the following saints:
- Zenaida and Philonella († approx. 100)
- Tryphon (saint) († approx. 250)
- Thalelaios the money despiser from Anazarbos in Cilicia († 284)
- Kosmas and Damian († approx. 303)
- Pantaleon (saint) (Panteleimon; † approx. 303)
- Cyrus and Johannes († approx. 304)
- Sampson the Hospitable († approx. 530)
- Valentin Felixowitsch Woino-Jassenezki (Luka Voyno-Yasenetsky; 1877–1961)
In addition, the name can refer to churches that are consecrated to the respective saints.
- Agii Anargyri , two churches at Tourkoneri, Alonnisos .
