Anasarca is a death metal band from the East Frisian Emden . They play typical American Death Metal with subtle melodic influences. For the meaning of the band name see Anasarka .

history

The band was formed in 1995 by former members of the death metal band Vomiting Corpses . After the self-produced album Godmachine , Anasarca got a contract with the Spanish label Repulse Records , where the album Godmachine was released. However, since the label had to stop work, Anasarca switched to Mighty Music . Constant casting problems meant that the band temporarily shrank to two members. With this line-up the album Dying was recorded. Shortly afterwards, Joschi Wang was brought on board as a second guitarist. A few gigs were played with this line-up, but the activities quickly fell asleep. The band has been active again since 2013. With Steffen Parth, Carsten Geerlings and Daniel Schneider, founder Michael "Mike" Dormann has gathered three new people to work on new material with. Schneider has since left the band due to lack of time and has been replaced by Dirk Janssen, who has already been a. played at Despondency and Disavowed. 16 songs are available for selection for an upcoming album, which should be released in 2016 at the latest - working title “Survival Mode”.

style

The lyrics of the band mostly contain the topic of death. For instance, was the album Moribund a concept album in which criminals in the United States in the death row , have contributed to the lyrics sit. On the following album, Dying , the lyrics deal with different ways of dying, e.g. B. by illness. This time, too, the band made contact with people who live with the knowledge that they will soon die.

The upcoming album with the working title “Survival Mode” will again deal conceptually, this time with the topic of “survival”. The demo Survival Mode , released on May 15, 2015, contains 4 tracks with a playing time of 16 minutes and is musically a mixture of the first two albums Godmachine and Moribund .

The album Survival Mode was released on May 25, 2017 on the American record label Sevared Records . In addition to the newly recorded songs from the survival mode demo, there are five new songs on the album. In addition, five bonus tracks found their way onto the disc by adding three songs that had already been recorded during the recording session for the third album "Dying", as well as two newly recorded songs from the 98 debut album Godmachine .
