Anastasia Michaeli ( Russian Анастасия Владимировна Михалевская , Hebrew אנסטסיה מיכאלי; * July 12, 1975 in Leningrad , Soviet Union ) is an Israeli politician who has been a member of the Knesset for the Yisra'el Beitenu since 2009 ; She also worked as a television journalist, model and in business.

biography

Michaeli was born in Leningrad, now Saint Petersburg, to ethnic Russians. She graduated from the State Telecommunications University in Saint Petersburg with a degree in electrical engineering . During her studies she was named Miss Saint Petersburg in 1995. She then took a year off, moving to Paris and working as a model there.

She met her future husband Josef Samuelson at a technology exhibition in Saint Petersburg. Originally from Riga , Latvia , Samuelson immigrated to Israel in 1971 at the age of eleven. They married in 1997 and Michaelmas moved to Israel and then converted to Judaism . You have eight children.

She completed an economics degree at the Bar Ilan University in Ramat Gan . Her media career began in 2002 when she was hired by the new Russian-language television broadcaster Israel Plus , where she worked as a journalist and presenter. In 2006 she starred in twelve episodes of the Israeli series Miluim .

In 2005 she joined the Kadima , but the party could not win enough votes in the 2006 elections to secure Michaeli's seat in parliament. In December 2008 she accepted Avigdor Lieberman's offer and joined his Jisra'el Beitenu party; in the 2009 elections she was ranked 9th on the list and then moved into the Knesset after her party won 15 seats.

On January 9, 2012, during a meeting of the parliamentary education commission, Michaeli filled a glass with water and poured it into the face of her ( Arab ) colleague, MP Raleb Majadle from the Labor Party . The Knesset Ethics Committee then suspended her for a month. This was not the first incident Michaeli was involved in. In 2010 she was reprimanded by the ethics committee after she had been violent against her colleague Hanin Soabi from the Balad party by trying to drag her from the speaker's platform. Soabi had previously participated in the Free Gaza convoy on board the Mavi Marmara . In June 2012, she made homophobic remarks on the radio .
