Prime Minister for a day

After the defeat in the Greco-Turkish War and the overthrow of the government of Petros Protopapadakis on September 10, 1922, there was a serious domestic political crisis. The subsequent government had to resign due to military revolts in the garrisons of Thessaloniki and Mytilini under the leadership of Colonel Stylianos Gonatas on September 29, 1922. The candidate for Prime Minister Alexandros Zaimis , selected by the Revolutionary Committee , had already left Greece, so Sotirios Krokidas should be appointed Prime Minister of a transitional government. When he did not arrive in Athens on September 29, 1929 in time to take the oath of office , General Charalambis became Prime Minister for one day as acting Minister of War.
