Anaximander is an impact crater on the Moon on the northwestern edge of the Moon's front . It is south of Carpenter and northeast of Pythagoras . The crater wall is heavily eroded, especially the northwest and southeast parts are almost completely leveled.
The crater was named by the IAU in 1935 after the pre-Socratic philosopher Anaximander .
