The Anchariidae are a fish family from the order of the catfish-like (Siluriformes). They are endemic to fresh waters in Madagascar .

features

Anchariidae are medium-sized catfish with a maximum length of about 30 centimeters. They differ from the closely related cross catfish (Ariidae) by their fringed barbels and the reduced front nuchal (neck plate).

Systematics

The Anchariidae together with the cross catfish form the superfamily of the Arioidea. The family includes two genera with six species :
