Anders Besseberg (born February 25, 1946 ) is a former Norwegian biathlete and former president of the International Biathlon Union (IBU).

Anders Besseberg was an active biathlete himself and was a member of his country's national team in the sport. At the side of Kåre Hovda , Kjell Hovda and Ragnar Tveiten , he was with the selection of the Numedal region in 1973 Norwegian relay champion, a year later with the second team of the region together with Hilberg Steinsvik , Odd Lunde and Sigleif Johansen third. He graduated from Oslo Sports Universityand was employed there from 1970 to 1975 as a lecturer. In 1976 he became the national coach of Norway, which he remained until 1980. Then Besseberg moved to the technical committee of the IBU, in 1988 he became its vice-president. Since 1992, he has been the successor to Igor Novikov and headed the important sports association and was the founding president of the IBU when it was separated from the all-around sports world association in 1993. During his tenure, biathlon has developed from a comparatively marginal sport to one of the most important winter sports with a noteworthy media presence. Besseberg is married. He was confirmed for a sixth term at the 2014 IBU Congress in St. Wolfgang .

In a raid on April 10, 2018, the Federal Criminal Police Office searched the IBU's business premises in Salzburg. According to the World Anti-Doping Agency, the raid is related to doping. In particular, Besseberg and Secretary General Nicole Resch are being investigated . The WADA also accuses Besseberg of "having allowed himself to be bribed with paid hunting trips to Russia and the placement of prostitutes" in order to campaign for the 2021 Biathlon World Championships to be awarded to Tyumen . On April 12, 2018, Besseberg officially resigned from his position as association president. His successor is Olle Dahlin , previously Vice President for Development at the IBU and President of the Swedish Biathlon Federation.
