Anders Hillborg (born May 31, 1954 in Stockholm , Sweden ) is a Swedish composer .

From 1976 to 1982 he studied counterpoint , composition and electronic music at the Stockholm University of Music with Gunnar Bucht , Lars-Erik Rosell , Arne Mellnäs and Pär Lindgren . By Brian Ferneyhough , guest lecturer at the Music Academy in Stockholm, he received an important impetus for his composition work. Since 1992 he has been visiting professor at the Malmö University of Music .

Hillborg wrote works for symphony orchestras, wind orchestras, choir, chamber music, film and pop music. In 1991 he received the Christ Johnson Music Prize. His work Både Celestial Mechanics for solo strings and his first violin concerto received a recommendation at the UNESCO composition competition .

  • 2016 Violin Concerto No. 2 (commissioned by the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, Minnesota Orchestra and Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra)
