André Blanchet

André Blanchet (born March 22, 1918 in Paulmy ; † March 2, 1966 in La Guerche ) was a French cyclist and national champion in cycling .

Athletic career

In 1939 he won the Grand Prix de la Sarthe (forerunner of the Circuit Cycliste Sarthe stage race ). However, he had his greatest successes as a train driver . In 1944 he won the French championship in the single pursuit . He was able to defend this title a year later. However, he had to share the title with André Deforge , as both were absolutely at the same time in the final run. Further medals at the pursuit championship were added. Time trial competitions were also one of his strengths on the road . He was invited several times to take part in the then most important individual time trial, the Grand Prix des Nationes . His best result was the 9th place in 1944 in the victory of Émile Carrara . He remained active as a professional driver until 1954.
