André Burkhard (born November 6, 1950 in Benfeld ) is a former French football player .

Career

He got his first contract for a first team in the 1968/69 season with the lower class CS Pierrots Strasbourg , before two years later he went to city rivals Racing Strasbourg , the largest and most successful club in the city from Alsace . On August 12, 1970 he made his debut for Strasbourg in Division 1 (today's Ligue 1 ) when he was in the starting eleven in the 2-1 defeat by Olympique Marseille . In the following years he established himself in the Strasbourg defense, playing in 36 first division games and scoring two goals. However, Strasbourg occupied 18th place in the table, which was synonymous with the descent of Strasbourg in Division 2. Burkhard was also a regular in the second division. He was used in 28 games and scored five goals. RCS managed as a league leader to rise again to Division 1. The following season he was also a regular. Burkhard was used in 33 first division games, scoring six goals. Strasbourg managed to stay in the league and finished in 16th place in the end.

After that Burkhard was active for SC Bastia for seven years . With Bastia he was in the final of the UEFA Cup in 1978 . He then played one season each for CO Le Puy and FC AS de Grenoble .
