André Chassaigne (born July 2, 1950 in Clermont-Ferrand , Puy-de-Dôme department ) is a French politician of the French Communist Party .

Life

Chassaigne is a member of the French National Assembly for the Puy-de-Dôme region . He won the region with 65.90% of the vote.

In the 2010 regional elections, the PCF achieved 14.2% in Auvergne .

Chassaigne has announced that he will run as a presidential candidate for the Front de Gauche in the 2012 French presidential elections . This was seen in part as a tactical move. The final candidate was Jean-Luc Mélenchon , then chairman of the Parti de Gauche .

André Chassaigne has been on the board of the Franco-German Parliamentary Assembly since 2019 .
