André Greiner-Pol

André Greiner-Pol (born May 12, 1952 in East Berlin ; † December 15, 2008 ; AGP for short ) was a German rock musician .

André Greiner-Pol's father was Kurt Greiner-Pol, director of the Erich Weinert Ensemble of the National People's Army . André Greiner-Pol founded the blues rock band Freygang that in the 1980s one of the most important bands of the GDR - underground movement developed. His music was often banned, up to a "lifelong" professional ban. From 1989/90 he belonged to the Prenzlauer Berg scene, was a co-founder of the cultural center “ Tacheles ” and founded the “Autonome Aktion Wydoks” party in April 1990 with other musicians, which ran for local elections in East Berlin in May 1990 remained unsuccessful. After 1990 he made nine albums with Freygang and published several books as an author on Buschfunk . He died of a heart attack on December 15, 2008 .
