André Jolivard
André Jolivard (born September 15, 1787 in Le Mans , † December 8, 1851 in Paris ) was a French painter and one of the most famous landscape painters of his time.
Life
André Jolivard was born on September 15, 1787 in Le Mans in the province of Maine in northwestern France . He went to Paris to study law , which he interrupted to join Napoléon Bonaparte 's Imperial Guard as a war volunteer . With her he took part in the Battle of Nations near Leipzig in 1813 .
After Jolivard had completed his law studies in 1816 with a diploma, he began training as a student of Jean-Victor Bertin (1767–1842). From 1819 he exhibited his paintings again and again in the Salon de Paris ( Paris Salon ), in 1827 he was even honored with a medal. In 1835 Jolivard was awarded the Knight's Cross of the French Legion of Honor for his services as a painter .
André Jolivard died on December 8, 1851 at the age of 64 in Paris as a result of a tetanus infection. This he had incurred when he on December 2 during the coup by Napoléon III. was accidentally injured by a stray bullet on the wrist when opening a window and the wound became infected.
