André Kieserling

André Kieserling (* 1962 in Dortmund ) is a German sociologist . Since the summer semester of 2006 he has held the professorship for general sociology at Bielefeld University .

He studied philosophy and sociology in Frankfurt am Main and Bielefeld. Then he was initially appointed to a professorship for sociology at the University of Mainz .

Alongside Dirk Baecker , Elena Esposito , Peter Fuchs , Andreas Göbel , Armin Nassehi and Rudolf Stichweh, André Kieserling is one of the more well-known advancers of the ideas of the founder of sociological systems theory , Niklas Luhmanns , whose works he often edited as editor. Since 2015 he has headed the long-term project funded by the North Rhine-Westphalian Academy of Science and the Arts for the indexing and editing of Niklas Luhmann's academic legacy.
