André Lurton (born October 4, 1924 in Grézillac , France ; † May 16, 2019 ibid) was a French winemaker and initiator of the AOC Pessac-Léognan , Bordeaux .

André Lurton was born at Château Bonnet in Grézillac after his grandfather Léonce Récapet bought this castle in 1897. When his mother Denise Récapet died in 1934, André became a half-orphan. His grandfather Léonce continued to look after the wineries until he died in 1943. Lutron continued the family tradition as a winemaker, initially with wines from the region around Bonnet Castle (225 hectares, partly under the Entre deux mers appellation ), which are still valued under this name today. Over time, the family acquired other wineries, such as Château La Louvière, a Grand Cru from the Graves region in 1965, and Château Couhins-Lurton, another Grand Cru Classé.

In 1987, Lurton succeeded in regrouping plants from the large Graves wine-growing region to obtain a new Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée (AOC) as a sub-region under the name Pessac-Léognan south of the city of Bordeaux. The Château Couhins-Lurton of the Lurton family has since been part of this AOC, which includes all 16 classified “Cru Classés de Graves”.
