André Parodi

André Gustave Parodi (born March 10, 1909 in Cairo , † February 27, 1990 in Vandœuvres , Canton of Geneva ) was a Swiss diplomat .

Life

Between 1934 and 1936, Parodi was an economist in the trade department of the Federal Department of Economics (today the Federal Department of Economics, Education and Research ). He was first commercial attaché on October 23, 1945 and on April 1, 1947 legation counselor at the legation in Italy . He was then from March 15, 1954 to November 9, 1954 as chargé d' affaires, head of the legation in Romania . He then took over on November 9, 1956, from Jacques-Albert Cuttat, the post of envoy to Colombia . After the legation was upgraded to an embassy on June 19, 1958, he became the first ambassador to Colombia. As such, he was also accredited for Ecuador from November 9, 1956 to March 11, 1961 . He was succeeded as ambassador by Charles Albert Dubois .

On December 19, 1960, Parodi was appointed envoy to Czechoslovakia to succeed Guido Keel . After this legation was upgraded to an embassy on July 19, 1963, he was also the first ambassador to Czechoslovakia and remained there until October 21, 1966, when Samuel François Campiche succeeded him on April 3, 1967. Subsequently, on April 4, 1967, he succeeded Robert Maurice as ambassador to Egypt and remained there until August 28, 1971. From April 4, 1967 to August 28, 1971, he was also the Swiss representative in Sudan with his office in Cairo accredited . His successor as ambassador was Hans Karl Frey .

Most recently Parodi replaced Robert Maurice as ambassador in Spain on October 19, 1971 . He remained in this post until he left the diplomatic service on December 31, 1974, after which Samuel François Campiche was again his successor.
