Andrés Laguna
Andrés Laguna de Segovia (* 1499 in Segovia , † 1559 in Guadalajara (Spain) ) was a Spanish medic , pharmacist , botanist and humanist .
biography
Andrès Laguna was born as the son of the doctor Didacus Ferdinand a Lacuna from Segovia. He studied medicine and classical philology in Salamanca and Paris , where he was particularly influenced by the ideas of Erasmus von Rotterdam . After traveling to England , the Netherlands and Italy , where he was the personal physician of Pope Julius III. worked, he returned to Spain in 1557 and worked there as court physician to kings Charles V and Philip II .
