Andrónico Luksic Abaroa (born November 5, 1926 in Antofagasta , Chile , † August 22, 2005 in Vitacura ) was a Chilean billionaire , of Croatian descent. His ancestors come from the island of Brač .

Life

Luksic is the grandson of Croatian immigrants in Chile who fled Croatia before the First World War . He had studied law in Santiago and Paris . Its rise in the 1950s was closely linked to the Ford company .

He was the patriarch of the Luksic family and from 1982 to 2004 chairman of the board of directors of Antofagasta plc , which was mainly engaged in the copper mining business. In 2004 Luksic bought the Banco de Chile . He has also developed hotel facilities in his family's home on the Croatian coast. Andrónico Luksic and his family are valued at four billion US dollars . The ranking of Forbes magazine leads him to number 132nd

Andrónico Luksic was first married to the Chilean Elena Craig (2 children, one of which was the businessman Andrónico Luksic Craig ) and then to Iris Fontbona (3 children).
