Alexander Butler

Alexander Charles Butler , also Andre Beaulieu (* 1869 in the USA ; † 1959 ) was an American film director and actor in British film.

Life

The US-born Butler shot around 70 works in Great Britain between 1913 (short films were made in that year) and 1926, mostly for the producer George Berthold Samuelson , with whom he also stayed in his country of birth between December 1919 and April 1920 To explore the market for their productions. His 1914 film The Shepherd of the Southern Cross was shot in Australia. His daughter, the dancer Gwendolen Tremayne (1909–2012), was born in Twickenham , stepped in front of the film camera as a child (1920) and was later one of the famous Tiller Girls. Occasionally Butler also worked in front of the camera as an actor , from 1917 to 1922 under the pseudonym Andre Beaulieu .
